Episode 6: Newport, New Problems (But Make It Unhinged)
We're back, and this week the girls trade their regular chaos for a historic Newport mansion — because apparently 29 bedrooms and a metal detector aren't overkill. That's right, Alicia shows up to one of the most prestigious estates in Rhode Island with a metal detector and New Balance sneakers, swinging for diamonds in her tea party dress. She found nothing. We respect the commitment.
Speaking of the tea party — Alicia goes full unhinged hostess mode: pink gloves and porcelain dolls, while Liz brings personalized masks for every woman with a little "note" that is aggressively passive-aggressive. Kelsey gets a giant showgirl feather situation. Ashley gets... a metallic slab that covers her entire face. Draw your own conclusions.
Then it's time to unmask (literally) and share your deepest secrets. Joellen reveals her mom sent her to a behavioral program. Liz reveals her mom passed away when she was a teen. Ashley reveals... that someday, someone she loves might die. And then she cries about it. Liz says "Okay." They move on.
Meanwhile, Kelsey is officially out of her relationship, Liz shows up with a compass and best-friend energy, and Rosie is accused of lying about her square footage — the real crime of the century. The episode ends with Rosie dropping the mic: "Kelsey has none of that."
We love this show. We're not okay. See you next week.
Hey guys, welcome back to Housewives Gauss and Glitter. We're gonna do uh Real Housewives of Rhode Island episode six today. And I think that this was probably like I don't know, it was like one of my faves, I think.
SPEAKER_00The title is Newport New Problems. The group spends the weekend in a historic Newport mansion. Alicia plans a tea party. I can't. Her tea party was unexpected and hilarious.
SPEAKER_01I was in love. I'm telling you, this episode, I was like taking serious notes. I was in love with the whole thing. From the metal detectors to the gloves to the bows. Oh my god, the presentations, Liz's bed frame. I got a whole bunch to say about today's episode. So um, but we start off with Liz and Ganja on the porch, and Alicia and Selena walking Providence, and Joel is at the pool, and they all get a text. And Kelsey texts them that she and her boyfriend have finally broken up and that she's actually moving out. And we get the first like real scene is Liz is in her crazy all-black bed framed bed with like angels and stuff like carved in. I don't even know. It was so crazy looking. Doing a red light mask, FaceTiming Kelsey and asking her about the relationship and how come they broke up. And it was quite the scene. I felt like her bed frame fits Alicia's first all-black confessional look. Like they look like they belong in like the same or something morbid.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Um, speaking of Alicia, her like little pink look in the first scene when she's walking with Selena is like my favorite ever. But anyway, it's super cute. Yeah. Um, yeah, so Liz is doing this like sweet red light mask while she's listening to Kelsey. And Kelsey's basically just saying that like the relationships run its course. So she said she was like laying in bed with the guy, and that she had to express to him that like she's thinking that you know their relationship is coming to a close. And he was basically like, Yeah, I think you're making the right decision. It just I mean, I think she's right. I think it's like not one bad thing that happened. It sounds like it's just run its course. She's in a completely different phase of life. Now she wants completely different things. He's older, he's like set in his ways, like he's not gonna give her what she wants. Like, I get all that. It was just kind of how he was just kind of like, yeah, I think that like you're doing the right thing. I'm like, that's kind of weird. Like it seems like they have a weird relationship.
SPEAKER_01He didn't fight it, but what got me was that she's like, um they there were more people in his life than she thought. Oh yeah. She said that's like okay to have the open relationship. Obviously, she was fine with it. She was seeing Bill like she seen other people.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But she was like, there were more people than she thought, which I thought I mean, I don't know much about open relationships, but I feel like the whole point of being open is that like you're honest and you're not hiding it. So but Liz, but Liz is like proud of her for like not ignoring it and like going through with it, and she says that she'll help Kelsey pack.
SPEAKER_00Um she was super supportive and that was nice. Yeah, yeah, that part was interesting too. I wasn't expecting that, and I sort of wonder like what she meant by that. Like, does he have like a lot of like young women that he hangs out with, but he they're just not like on the same pedestal as Kelsey, and she doesn't like that, or does he have other women living in other properties? Like, I want to like know more of like like what's the difference to her between the people she knows about and the other people that she was like saying, Oh no, that's too much. Like, I just wish I'm just curious, I guess.
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, in agreement with that, like what constitutes is too much and what isn't too much.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like there's definitely a lot she's like not saying, but anyway, I think ultimately, like, this is a good thing. And they sort of just like pause that topic there for now, and then we're like at Rosie's house where she's like packing up because they're about to go to the Newport mansions for the weekend, and she's like showing Rich everything that she's looking at.
SPEAKER_01Yes, her Versace bathing suit or like the other slutty bathing suit. But I have to say again, I okay, so her aesthetic in whatever room they're in, it seemed like a sitting room, like not really like a living room. Yeah, but I loved her palm tree wallpaper, the leopard rug, and then like the gold bar and the golden velvet chair. Yeah, and I was like, I love this. This is what I what I have going on, I think.
SPEAKER_00Like her aesthetic is definitely like more of mine too, and like her confessional look with the pink and like the jeweled sleeve, and then she picked up Clemmy and Clemmy had like a pink sweater on. I was like, oh my god, I just like love, yeah, I love all of the pink on her. Um, and I do love like that decor in her house. I do not do this packing thing with John where I lift everything up and show him what I'm packing because all that's gonna do is have him try to get me to like pack less or pack less glam, and like there's no point in even like there's no point in getting his like take on that. Like, I'm just gonna pack it. So I do not do that.
SPEAKER_01I pack like two weeks in advance, like start putting stuff in a suitcase, like super far in advance, where Slater doesn't pack until about 45 minutes before we need to get on the plane. So the night before, like ever, no matter how long that's I I start in advance, Slater doesn't, so he doesn't see what I pack, and chances are I helped him pack because we're struggle busing through like getting ready. But um, so anyway, in other parts though, they Rich says he makes sure to tell her to have a good time, and she's really white about it because she but she says she's been like better with most of them at the moment, but she said that lately when she's been getting together with them, it feels like she just keeps getting punched in the face.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I mean, I don't think like when you think about it, it's like Jo Ellen doesn't like her, Alicia was like super mad at her, like Liz isn't really like her friend, like Pepsi doesn't like her. Like the only one that like genuinely like seems to like want to be her friend is Ashley, and Ashley doesn't outfit her. Yeah, like she doesn't she's not like a bridge, so she totally feels like an outcast. Um so that sucks, but she also is a fucking potster, though. It's like stop being a potster and they would like you more. I have to say, this episode she did really good. She did, oh, she did. She did do really good, and like later on when she does fight with Kelsey, I was on her side now for this particular fight. But anyway. Yeah. Um, now we're shopping with Joellen and her sister that looks nothing like her fucking sister. This is the sister that used to date Gary. They have no, they do not bear a resemblance to each other at all.
SPEAKER_01So much prettier than her sister.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. And she got the guy.
SPEAKER_01And her sister's still single. I'm like, this is just sorry, Jen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was what I mean. Um they are shopping at a store where they get glasses of champagne handed to them right away. And I'm like, this is an amazing sales tactic, and I will be patronizing this tour as soon as I possibly can.
SPEAKER_01We'll need to pick a weekend and do like a Rhode Island like hop round, I feel like.
SPEAKER_00We have to go to Newport Polo.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. So we have a list. We need to plan like a long weekend.
SPEAKER_00We have a whole we have another fun gal summer coming up.
SPEAKER_01We do, we do, but we have to start writing in plans for our fun gal summer else. We did we do. Yeah. So anyway, Joel and shopping.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then they start talking about like her strange relationship with her mother, which we do find out a little bit more in the episode. But at this point in the episode, I'm like confused again because she's like, I mean, I get that she's saying that her mom was like cold, but she's like really hinting that like something like happened. Like, she's just like she's never acknowledges what she did, and like just talking about how they have such a strange relationship and how she doesn't show her any love. And I'm just like, I need more specifics here. Like, what the fuck happened? Like, she sort of, and I don't want to say this as if it's true because I I have no idea, but it's like the way she was describing it. I'm like, was she like abused or something? Like, I'm like, why is she describing her mother like this?
SPEAKER_01I it was very, it was super strange, very strange, and it was like a really bizarre place to be like having this conversation, and Jen is like, well, if I expected mom to change, I would just be banging my head against the wall constantly. And Joel's like, I don't know if I expect her to change, but I feel like I deserve like more love, but she wants an apology and acknowledgement, and I'm just like, I don't know. You're an adult, you're not getting it at this point. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00No, I mean, if something really terrible happened, she should get it, or the relationship will never be what it could be.
SPEAKER_01But I don't think she's gonna get it at this point, it's been too long.
SPEAKER_00No, so at that point, you have to make a choice of whether you're gonna have a relationship with that person or not. This is where a lot of people will be like, well, she's your mother, so you just have to like forgive her and move on, even if the mother is never going to apologize or acknowledge anything. And I'm like, I'm sorry, I just don't think that that's right. That's not right. Like you can't just because your family doesn't give you like carte blanche to like treat people any way that you want and then expect them to just always accept you, like you have to at some point like acknowledge what you did and apologize for it. You can't just expect everybody to just be like, well, that was a long time ago, so just like leave it in the past. It's like, well, it's easy for you to say when you're the one that hurt them. Like again, like I don't know how serious this is because she hasn't really said, but like, if it is something really serious, it's like, well, if you want a better relationship with your daughter, you have to like acknowledge whatever it is that she wants it to be acknowledged.
SPEAKER_01But um at this point though, Jen says, you know, Joelyn's broken the cycle with her kids, and that she's like a really great mom. So, like, that was a sweet moment to end on, essentially, on that part. Um, but yeah, so we'll find out more about Joel's a small glimpse into more of Joel's and a few more scenes. But then we go to Kelsey's house, and she's packing up her closet, and of course, they show all of her beauty pageant things, yeah. Which I like every time they view that crazy closet, and um, Liz goes to join her and she brings her a coffee.
SPEAKER_00And that sounds so sweet, this whole scene.
SPEAKER_01I thought so too. It was like really nice that Liz goes first of all to support her, brings her a coffee, and then she gives her a really sweet gift. I should have written down the inscription, but I didn't. But she gives Kelsey a compass and basically is like, here's to like help find your way um on this new path. Because this is when we find out that you know she moved in with her boyfriend right after like living with her parents. She's never really been on her own, she just hasn't paid bills, blah blah blah. So it was just really nice that Liz thought of her for this and then went to go on her pack.
SPEAKER_00Liz gives like the she's a really good friend, she gives the best advice. Like she does, she was so supportive of this and was like, like she just was very supportive of her when she was like thinking about doing all this, but wasn't sure yet. And she didn't like push it too hard. And then when Kelsey finally made the decision on her home her own, she was like, You're totally doing the right thing. This is like such a major accomplishment to go out and do this on your own. I'm so proud of you. Like, she's so like she just gives us advice, she's like exactly what you want in a friend or like uh you know, like older sister kind of like vibe. Like she's giving her really good advice, and she's not being judgmental, like she's kind of just like letting her finger it out on her own and like supporting her along the way. I just thought the whole scene was so touching, and then the compass was like so thoughtful.
SPEAKER_01It was, it was really thoughtful. Like at first, I was like, what is she opening? And then she opens that, and I was like, Aww.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, that was really nice. That was such a nice scene. I was like, oh, that was like just yeah, it's like you just always want like a friend like that. Um great, and then the girls head to the mantons in the vintage Rolls-Royces.
SPEAKER_01I was like, geez, I know they get escorted everywhere in a party bus in the Rolls Royce's, and I'm like, come on. I thought that was awesome. And then but Liz is so amused by the amount of luggage that Alicia brings, and then Alicia just all the dolls, that's why. She was like, yeah, and she was like, it's only 30 minutes here, but like that's and that's an Uber or 30 minutes to Newport. She's like, but that's an Uber ride for me.
SPEAKER_00I will say, I mean, I know they're saying that that's a Rhode Island thing, but I will say, if I ever hit somebody with my car, I probably would never drive again. Like, that was scar me for life. Rule is not here yet, she's not joining them for the Rolls Royce ride. She's like coming late. It just sucks that like this whole situation is not her fault, and she's the one losing out on everything because he's embarrassing her and kind of like isolating her, you know.
SPEAKER_01Because she could be there in one of the cars with them, like having champagne, getting greeted at the door. Right, by the conflict.
SPEAKER_00He is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like it's just insane. I'm like, no, but I think the girls are also annoyed that she's like not showing up to things on time or not showing up in general or leaving early.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but they see I when they kind of like when Joel brought that up and Alicia and Liz like shut her down. I did agree with them shutting her down because she knows why. Like, you know that the reason is because she's like going through it with her husband, it's not like she's just like being rude. Like, yeah, you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_01So it's like they're like, we can't talk shit if she's not here. So just like cut it out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're like just like lay off of her, basically. Um yeah, yeah. But so anywho. So, anywho, Alicia invites them all to her doll tea party.
SPEAKER_01Yes, which was like the most amazing thing ever, and everyone had she tells everyone that they have to uh wear like really cute tea party clothes. First of all, though, we can't ignore that the fact that her and Liz walk into the house and she goes, It's our story tale, not our fairy. It's our story tale. There was some really good Alicia isms at the house, but anyway, so they're all dressed super freaking cute for this tea party. Like Alicia's pink dress was magnificent, and she had little teeny pink gloves, and I loved it.
SPEAKER_00And then like Joan's like, Alicia, like tell me more about these dolls. Like, what do they mean to you? And she was like, girls have been playing with dolls for billions of years, yeah, and like Jill.
SPEAKER_01Billions, and yeah, and um, so she wants every girl to like pick out a doll, and like she's like, you can know a lot by the doll that they pick.
SPEAKER_00It's funny because I used to have so these dolls are like the porcelain dolls, right? They're not the same as the dolls that we saw, like the brats looking dolls at the house. Yeah, I had porcelain dolls for the longest time, and like a lot of people think that they're creepy and don't like them. I love them because of exactly what Alicia's saying. I love that I love their clothes, like they all had these like really elaborate dresses, and I like love I didn't play with them though. I just had them on like a sh like a three-story like shelf. I didn't like take them out and play with them. But the reason that I liked them was because of their clothes and their hair, um, and like their little accessories. So and like if I I always wanted like the display Barbies too as well. So I mean, if I was like didn't move around a thousand times for my job, I probably would still have like some of this stuff. So I get the doll thing. I get the doll thing, I get like the the brat's doll thing because I feel like a lot of people save their Barbies. Like, I think it's cool, but I wouldn't play with them.
SPEAKER_01I had one porcelain doll, and I remember I really liked it because she had a red velvet dress and like cute shoes painted on. But I won't I have like my texture thing with like clothing and the way things feel, and I don't like the way porcelain dolls felt. So I didn't like the feel of porcelain and sometimes it sometimes, like if you have like a teacup, yes, but sometimes the dolls have like that weird porcelain texture where they're not finished right, and so that was always my thing, and I wanted to play with my dolls, so it was like all Barbies and American girl dolls, like well, my one American girl doll, like not a girl who had like 20, but yeah, I wanted to do their hair, and like porcelain dolls were always just like too perfect, like not meant to be played with. So, anyway, they have this whole beautiful tea party set up, and they have Cinderella's carriage as or Carbage, another Alicia is them. Oh my god, yeah, you find out that like Ashley had all of the origin the five original AG dolls, American Girl dolls, her in sync Barbies, and then Jonas Brothers Barbies, and I was like, Ashley and I are like the same age, I think.
SPEAKER_00So that was yeah, because she's a little she's like late 30s. Like I she's like old for the Jonas Brothers. I'm also I was also too old to get Jonas Brother Bar in sync Barbies. I mean, I didn't have InSync Barbies, but in sync I was a huge fan of, but I wasn't a fan of the Jonas Brothers. Not that I don't like them, but they were like past my time. And she's like a few years older than me, so I was like, why does we have Jonas Brother dolls?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I thought that was interesting. She was late bloomer.
SPEAKER_00Well, she was a late bloomer. We already know this. She was a version 2. She was 29. So now we're getting a little bit of a glimpse into that.
SPEAKER_01But I just wrote like I remember being like, we worked at Limited too at the time that the Jonas Brothers became like super popular, and by that point, I was already in college. It was like way past party time. Right. But um, anyway, I loved all of their outfits. I wrote that I love Lizzes. Um I didn't think she looked like a stripper, but then I noticed that Rosie had like really fun glitter on her face.
SPEAKER_00She'd be that would be a creepy look for a stripper. Like that's that she didn't look like a stripper to me. She looked like she was wearing a tea party dress.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I wonder if part of it was just like the mace, the makeup or whatever.
SPEAKER_00I wear sparkles all the time. I wonder if people think that I look like a stripper.
SPEAKER_01I maybe. I just bought purple highlighter and I'm excited to use it. And then I got a new serum that's supposed to make me look dewy. So I want it to make me look sparkly.
SPEAKER_00But I think they're just jabbing at Rosie.
SPEAKER_01So I think so too. But Alicia tells them that they get to name their dolls whatever they want, and they're discussing.
SPEAKER_00Then Liz is like, okay, we're gonna have like a blast. Thie event later. And so, like, before they get ready, they have this shot of like Alicia out on the grounds with a fucking.
unknownI know.
SPEAKER_01It was so good. I'm like dying laughing. So Joel's facing her kids, and Alicia's just like looking. She's like, maybe I'll find a diamond or something. And she was like, I'm not finding anything. You know they've done this before. And I'm like, You brought your metal detector to the Newport Mansions. It's not.
SPEAKER_00Not like if she had found something, it's not like they'd let her dig. They let her out on the grounds with that thing.
SPEAKER_01I know. It was wicked funny though. Just like in her dress or new balance is swinging the metal detector.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was like so unexpected. But then they like are in the house, and Liz is like describing the masks that she's giving out, and I'm like, they're they're like these little like passive aggressive descriptions for everybody. Like she's like, Rosie, this one will be deliver this one to her because she has a larger-than-life facade. Alicia, give this one to her because she pretends everything is great. Ashley uses a mask that just covers her whole fucking face. I was like, what kind of descending to ask?
SPEAKER_01She sends everyone will note that's like where the facades must be revealed. And again, we get another Alicia ism and she calls it.
SPEAKER_00It's a facade.
SPEAKER_01A facade. And it was like, a facade.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, they kind of were like lit. I couldn't decide if they were digs or if like Liz was just trying to be honest, because then she could tell talks about herself being like, yeah, people think she's the big bad wolf and she was a wolf, and but she's really like a sheep in a wolf clothing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I don't think she was like maliciously digging. I just thought it was funny because she's I don't know what I would think about that if like I received that mask, like not knowing that that's what we were doing. I'd be like, thanks for the note.
SPEAKER_01Like right, like I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was just like, let me give you this mask and write you like a little cryptic note of what I think that you might be hiding. I just thought it was funny that Ashley's has a mask that covers her whole fucking face. I'm like, she's like they were just like, I guess you're not eating or drinking tonight. Like her mask was the worst. Like the other one was like, like Kelsey's clearly her favorite. Like Kelsey's got this like super elaborate, like showgirl one that's like this big, like feathered thing, and like Alicia's is like super beautiful, like swept to the side, and then like Ashley's is just like a s like a gray silver, like heavy looking mask that's covering her her whole face.
SPEAKER_01I was like, geez, I know we couldn't give her like a lacy one or something.
SPEAKER_00It wasn't cute. I don't know what I would think of this if I received this from somebody that like wasn't.
SPEAKER_01I thought like when I saw the preview for this episode, I was like, she picked that herself, and then I'm like, oh Liza signed in. I was like, Liz, what were you saying?
SPEAKER_00I don't, I'm I'm like so confused of what she was like trying to get at with that one, but I was like dying. And then like, okay. So before they eat, they're supposed to like um take off the mask and like describe like something deep about them. So like Joellen reveals that her mother sent her to a behavioral program, which is like that's kind of fucked up.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, because she was like, I wasn't even a bad kid. It was like people with like actual problems, and then there was me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like that is kind of fucked up. Like, we need to hear, we need to know more about this situation because that's like extreme.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so there's I thought they were gonna like ask her to like elaborate or something, and it was like I wrote a sentence and a half, like for each girl. So they really sped through like the map.
SPEAKER_00They did like okay, so she says that, then like Liz Liz, this isn't funny. This isn't the funny part. I'm just laughing about what comes next. So like Liz talks about how like she has a tough exterior because her mother died when she was 12. Then they jumped to Ashley. Ashley takes off her mask and she goes, she's literally crying because she says that like nothing bad has happened to her and she doesn't have a sob story, but someday it will. And it's scary to know that someday somebody might die. And this just goes, okay, and then they move on. And I was just like, What? Like, she is just lost. Like, that was that was ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01Well, she was like worried about what they do on like the bachelor because everyone has some sort of story, and she's like, I didn't even know what I was gonna say on the bachelor, and I was like, that's not like she should have gone with something else.
SPEAKER_00Literally, she could have gone with she's having trouble like fitting, she feels like she's having trouble fitting in here and like relocating her entire life. She could have talked about like her issues with her husband, but instead she's just like, I was so worried that I have no sob story, but it's so scary to think that someday somebody might die, and then she starts like kind of fake crying, and I'm like, This is so awkward, like this is literally so awkward, and Liz just goes, Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and then Joelan's like, and here is Ashley crying about crying about not having anything to cry about.
SPEAKER_00Cry about it's just like oh my god, like I feel like you she could have taken that like any other direction. I I was like, that was so dumb.
SPEAKER_01It was, but oh well, at least she was being honest. You can't fault a girl for being honest though.
SPEAKER_00Like she's scared that someday somebody might die. It's like in that she will have a sob story. That's not something to cry about. You're crying because you went on The Bachelor and you didn't have a sob story when other people did. Like, wow, that's super deep. No. I just um what I'm saying is that she actually does have real stuff going on, so she should have mentioned that, and that would have been more like relatable.
SPEAKER_01Maybe she doesn't view her what's going on in her life like as that big of a thing. And she says that she's an open book, so maybe she just assumes that everyone like knows it.
SPEAKER_00This is why Liz gave her the full face mask. Oh my god. True.
SPEAKER_01And then okay, anyway, oh enough of Ashley. Then we go to Rosie, and she says that she's it's she's really shy and she has anxiety, and she's like learned to pretend like this big personality to kind of just like keep everything at bay, and um like she feel feels selfish when she puts herself first, and then Kelsey. Wait, wait, was this it?
SPEAKER_00They talk it's basically like yeah, they sort of just ask Kelsey like about her breakup, so she like kind of goes next, but they like ask her about her breakup, and she said, like, she's doing great hanging in there. Sh Bill, like she thinks of him as Mare's material, but she does mention that like her ex is still helping her out financially, and like Rosie in particular thinks that this is so bizarre, but like I don't think it's bizarre at all.
SPEAKER_01I mean, as Cassie put it, it's like they were together for 10 years, so it's like she if they were married, she would get something, so like she should be able to get this.
SPEAKER_00Um, like he's not, he doesn't, it's not a malicious breakup, like it's a mutual separation, and like he's way older than her and obviously has like a ton of money. I feel like he's trying to just help her get established because he knows she hasn't been working. Like, I don't think it's that like unless he's like this ruthless guy, I don't think he's just gonna like throw her out with nothing. You know what I mean? Like that'd be pretty like rough.
SPEAKER_01We just know that Rosie's just not a fan of uh Kelsey's relationship style in general, so she would have a lot to say anyway.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're like weirdly like competitive with each other on their different situations, like they weirdly like jab at each other about different things, and I'm like, I don't know why you guys are so critical of each other's lives. Like they both do it, and I'm like, why? Yeah, yeah. I just don't think this really awkward back and forth with Alicia and Liz at the end.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I was like, oh my god. So Alicia says that she saw really dark things when she was a kid. Basically, her dad leaves her, he gets her other house, and so Alicia claims she was homeless. And according to Liz, Alicia wasn't actually homeless. And like Liz says that she's trying to protect Alicia's family from making him seem mean, but like she's trying to protect Alicia from sounding like she's like super privileged, and I guess this.
SPEAKER_00I okay, so like I can totally relate to this because I get this and I know what Alicia's saying, but it's also a huge stress. Like, homeless is like when you say that, like I know it literally means like you don't have a home, but like when you say that, the implication is like you're in a shelter or you're like out on the street, and like obviously that wasn't the case for Alicia, but like she so like this this happened to like my family when I was growing up. So, like my dad went to jail. We had to like sell all of our stuff, sell our house, moved in, and we moved in with my grandparents, and then suddenly, like, my sister and I went from like living in this like big house on the Cape with like a pool and a nice neighborhood with all of our friends, and like a big space with our own rooms, our own walk-in closets, all these things to like we were living in my grandparents' house, and my grandparents' house was also big, but like my aunt was living there with her son, and then my mom was there, plus my grandparents. So my sister and I go from all that to like we were sharing like a we were sharing like a bed, and like I would like open up like my dresser and it would like hit the bed because the room we were in, like a small room, but it was still like a very nice house. Like the house was nice, it was great to live with family, and we still have we're very lucky that we had that, and it was like we moved into another neighborhood, made new friends, and everything was fine. So, but I would never say that I was homeless. Like, I mean, it was a terrible situation that like I had a parent go to jail and we lost a bunch, but like I would never call myself homeless. Like, homeless to me is like you're out on the street, like you have nowhere to go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I think Liz was just like calm down.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Liz is like, calm down, and Leasha's like, but I really went from like this to this. So I think the way she said it probably wasn't like put the best way, but it does sound like it was really rough, and she was totally thrown out of her element. So this whole dinner was very, very awkward.
SPEAKER_00And then we have even more awkward way.
SPEAKER_01Because then Kelsey makes I wrote a dig at Rosie, but Kelsey insists that what she said was a compliment. And basically, like Kelsey thanks Rosie for like actually being like honest or something. And it was like Rosie was like, thanks. Thanks, and then everyone's like, You should thank Kelsey. She gave you a compliment, and then Rosie's like, I'm not thanking her, she didn't compliment me. And Kelsey's like, I did too. And I was like, No, you didn't. It was such a backhanded compliment.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was a backhanded compliment, and then like Ashley does stick up for her. Um, and she's like trying to be on Rosie's side because Rosie feels like totally unsupported. So it was awkward. Then they get up to leave the dinner, and like Rosie goes upstairs and like immediately like wants to like debrief with Ashley on like what the fuck? Like, why is that? And then she's in the room, which yeah, which is normal, but like then Kelsey and Joel and are like listening at the door.
unknownI was like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_01I was like, what the heck? And Kelsey's like doesn't even knock, she just goes straight into the room.
SPEAKER_00She loves like she loves to confront this girl. I mean, I don't hate her for it, like she's definitely one of those people that's not just gonna talk behind her back, like she's definitely gonna like tell you how she feels. But I was like, that's what I mean to listen at the door and then to march in. I don't know if I'd admit that I was listening at the door.
SPEAKER_01No, probably I don't even think she really does. I think she just goes, Hey, what's up? And then like Ash's like, Oh, well, we were just talking about this, and she was like, Oh, blah blah blah blah blah. And even and then Ashie reiterates, like, what you said was actually a backhanded compliment.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, you're like, Well, what do you mean? Like, Rosie, like, why do you think that Rosie like does usually isn't honest about her life? Because like that's what she was insinuating, is like, thanks for being so open and honest now, like, meaning like you aren't usually. And Ashley was like, Well, what do you mean? Like, why do you think she's not usually like open about her life? And then Kelsey just goes in on like all the things that she doesn't like about Rosie.
SPEAKER_01And she says, like, she says that Rosie exaggerates everything. Oh, wait, she says Rosie is lying about her house size, which is so freaking stupid. And she lied about her mental health reasons for leaving work, and Rosie is like, I was bleeding out of my ass.
SPEAKER_00I left for our mental health reasons. She said she left because she had colitis. I was like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_01And she was like, I left because of that, and it like caused mental health problems, and like she doesn't exaggerate everything, and Rosie's like, she just wants me to admit that this rumor of me sleeping with the higher up is like true, and she was like, I'm not going to do it. I left work because of like a real thing, like colitis.
SPEAKER_00I mean, she does make a good point that it's like, if you're gonna make up a reason, I don't know if colitis would be the first one that I'd jump to. Like, it's kind of right, not something that you'd like want to share. So that is a good point. She's like, Why the fuck would I lie about that?
SPEAKER_01It wouldn't make any sense, like it just, yeah. So I'm with Rosie on that. And like Kelsey says that everything that Rosie does is like an act, but then the killer is so the credits are rolling, and Rosie goes, She just wants to discredit everything I have, which is a relationship, a house, and a career. And she was like, and Kelsey has like none of that.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like, I mean, yeah, that was like not my drop moment. Hey, like the things that each of them have a problem with have nothing to do with the other person. With Rosie, I'm like, why does it bother you so much that Kelsey is in an open relationship? Like, she's brought it up several times, and she brings it up and brings it up and brings it up, and it's just like this literally has nothing to do with you. Like, why does it bother you? But then it's the same thing with Kelsey. It's like she literally was like, No, your house is actually a thousand square feet, not 1500. And I'm like, but why the hell do you feel the need to care about that so much? Like, you're so offended that she might be lying about the square footage of her house.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it's almost like a middle school thing. Like you spend so much or high school, like you spend so much time focusing on someone else's relationship, and then this person finds like this other thing to like pick on you for, and it's just like it has to be exhausting, like caring about someone's relationship that much, or like how big their house is.
SPEAKER_00I just yeah, like I don't understand like the stuff that they're talking about. I don't get why they are so up at each other's business, like so much. How does Kelsey even know how big this house is?
SPEAKER_01They're not fronts. She could look it up on Zillow. Maybe she didn't.
SPEAKER_00Why would you do that? I think it's just a little it's just I it doesn't that doesn't like pique my interest of like how big somebody's fucking house is and like what it says on Zillow. I just find it odd.
SPEAKER_01I don't think I would care, and I definitely don't think I'd use it as like an arguing point.
SPEAKER_00I'd be kind of embarrassed if I was like if I I would never reveal to somebody that I knew that much about their house.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it would be really strange. Did you notice though that at one point this the scene like switches and I wish they like had shown how it happened, but like we went from like Rosie and Ashley discussing everything to Joel and Kelsey like barging into the room and suddenly like Alicia is on the couch and there's like the other girls in there and I'm like I did notice that I'm like, where did the other girls come from?
SPEAKER_00Or I know that rooms are adjoining.
SPEAKER_01That's weird though, because I mean they said there was 20, first of all, they said that there's 29 bedrooms in there, and then all the girls are sharing a bedroom.
SPEAKER_00Uh there's no way in hell I'd be in my own room in that place. It's too that that would scare me. You know, if I would have to be, I wouldn't want to share a bed with anybody, but I'd want to be in an adjoining room. I would not sleep in that, like just by myself in my own wing. That's too big.
SPEAKER_01I don't you don't know what you're gonna hear if you're living in a house that was built in the 20s, and it's like 43,000.
SPEAKER_00I would sleep alone, no. I'd want to be in the adjoining.
SPEAKER_01We got a mini like preview of next week, but it was more of like here's the a preview of the rest of the season. It was the mid-season trailer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So yeah, the mid-season trailer is showing like our it's showing that that like fight with the two girls where like one of them gets pushed out the door, like that's Kelsey and Rosie.
SPEAKER_01Which we finally I guess we've managed to confirm, but I've had my suspicions.
SPEAKER_00Huh? Yeah, you've been saying that for a while. I just couldn't ever tell from the shot who it actually was. But it did make me kind of sad that like Joel and Liz fight, because I'm like, they're good friends. Like, what the hell?
SPEAKER_01I'm sure it'll be something that gets made up later. But okay, guys. Anyway, that concludes episode six. We are flying through this season, it's like insanity. Yeah. But stay tuned and keep recapping with us, and we'll do it later. Bye.
